I got invited to post on an LA art website for free.  So why not.  However, they put together a bio/statement that I wasn’t crazy about.  So I figure I should post one here.

I have been painting since 2003.  I received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a law degree from UCLA.  After taking the bar exam, I spent three months living in Belgium, where I visited some of the best museums in the world.  Coming back inspired and unemployed, I dusted off my high school art materials and began painting in my spare time (I don’t own a television, so I have a lot of time to spare).  While in high school, I had the greatest teacher in the world, Patti Post.  I took two life drawing classes in high school and I am taking my second life drawing post-college.

I am inspired by many artists.  Cezanne is a god.  However, two seemed to have had a larger influence in my work, Richard Diebenkorn and Jasper Johns.  I started my ‘Map’ series because of Johns and with an eye toward Ocean Park.  The word paintings are meant to be political (see Johns alphabet).  And the new stuff is in wax (Johns), and I am having the time of my life painting with wax.  Wax, where had you been all my life.

And I live in Sourthern Cali.
